Visit our Benefits and Perks Tab by Clicking HereSummaryThe SafeChoice Housing Program Specialist (Transitional Housing) works with a minimum of ten domestic violence survivor households at a time in our Transitional Housing apartment units.
This includes participant advocacy and support relating to educational, vocational, legal, family, and housing goals.
In addition, this position is expected to be able to perform basic parts of all Housing and Hotline Program related functions.
This position is part of a team of six and reports directly to the Director of Housing and Hotline Services General - 5% Assure that participants, staff, volunteers and community partners are treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnic background, gender or socioeconomic background.
Gain approval for, track, and engage in activities that meet the organization's 1% for Social Change requirement.
Think through the lens of racial equity and its intersections with poverty.
Use the core principles of anti-racism and grounding those principles in all daily tasks Incorporate the YWCA's commitment to social justice by understanding how racism, sexism, classism and other oppressions intersect and are embedded in institutions.
Seek opportunities for continued learning about racial, gender and class equity.
Proactively maintain yearly domestic training requirements as required.
Be present for and appropriately participate in staff meetings as required.
Establish and maintain a record of impeccable dependability with regards to punctuality, following call-out procedures, and adhering to the policies, practices, and guidelines set by the organization and SafeChoice.
Maintain appropriate personal/professional boundaries with participants and co-workers to maintain clear, open, and unbiased lines of communication.
Direct Services and Program - 65% Address program participant's housing barrier needs and provide trauma-informed advocacy.
Maintain detailed documentation according to contract standards.
Participate in ongoing home visits and collaborate with other SafeChoice staff to provide DV advocacy services.
Connect families with resources in order to help them stabilize and ultimately maintain their housing long-term.
Effectively and respectively work with people from diverse backgrounds and provide advocacy support in accordance with the individual's cultural practices and beliefs.
Provide services which can include but not limited to; motel vouchers, connecting to resources, hotline support and community referrals.
Local travel required, current driver's license and/or ability to commute throughout Clark County to fulfill job responsibilities.
Budget and Administration - 20% In collaboration with the Director of Housing and Hotline Services, manage project budget and ensure timely payments for rent and utility assistance.
Administer the use of flexible funding for participants to access and maintain stable housing.
Enter data for housing program services into Homeless Information Management System (HMIS).
Community Partnership Building - 10% Represent SafeChoice housing program at appropriate housing/homeless meetings in the community.
Build and maintain relationships with property management, landlords, and other community resources.
Preferred Experience Advocacy experience or transferrable skills, preferably working with at risk populations domestic violence advocacy or families experiencing homelessness.
Familiarity with homeless coordinated entry systems and knowledge of local resources.
